WooCommerce is free software, but a WooCommerce store is not free to run: you pay for hosting, plugins and your own time on updates and security. In cash it can cost less than BizzPocket; in hours it costs more. Pick WooCommerce if you have a developer. Pick BizzPocket if you would rather spend those hours selling.

WooCommerce powers a huge number of stores worldwide, and nothing beats it for control: you own the code, the data and the server. That flexibility is real. So is the work that comes with it. This comparison puts both sides in rupees and hours for an Indian seller.

How each one works

WooCommerce is a plugin that turns a WordPress site into a store. You choose a host, install WordPress, add WooCommerce, pick a theme, and add plugins for payments, shipping, invoices and anything else you need. The core plugin is free; its WordPress.org page says "Our core platform is free" (wordpress.org).

BizzPocket is a hosted platform. You sign up, pick one of nine themes made for Indian categories, add products and start selling. Hosting, security, updates, checkout, GST invoices, COD rules and courier bookings are part of the service.

Growth₹999/month1%
Scale₹2,999/month0%

Your gateway (Razorpay or Cashfree) charges its own fee on online payments; cash-on-delivery orders have no gateway fee. BizzPocket Starter is free to build. A ₹1 one-time verification before you go live confirms a real seller runs each store and is never auto-debited; it keeps fake stores off the platform. See the pricing page for plan limits.

Cash cost at ₹1 lakh a month

Assume 100 online orders of ₹1,000 a month through Razorpay at 2%. Before GST:

Cash total₹2,149 + plugins₹2,449 + plugins₹3,999₹4,999

On cash alone, WooCommerce usually wins at this volume. That is the honest result. The question is what the difference buys you.

What you pay in time

With WooCommerce, these jobs are yours, or a developer's:

  • Updates to WordPress, WooCommerce, the theme and every plugin, and testing that nothing broke after each one
  • Security: patches, a firewall, malware scans and strong logins
  • Backups and knowing how to restore them
  • Speed: caching, image compression and a host that copes with festive-season traffic
  • Plugin conflicts when two plugins disagree after an update
  • Indian checkout specifics: COD rules by pincode or value, GST invoice format, courier integration, each through a separate plugin

If a developer does this for you, their monthly fee usually closes the cash gap. If you do it yourself, every hour on updates is an hour not spent on product photos, WhatsApp replies or new stock.

With BizzPocket, the platform handles hosting, security, updates and speed, and the India-specific features are part of the core product on every plan.

WooCommerce is the right choice if

  • You already run a content-heavy WordPress site and want to add a shop to it.
  • You have a developer, in-house or on retainer.
  • You need custom workflows that only code can deliver.
  • You want full control over hosting and data location.

BizzPocket is the right choice if

  • There is no developer on the team, and you do not want to become one.
  • You sell mainly in India, with UPI and COD.
  • Orders come from WhatsApp and Instagram as well as your site.
  • You would rather pay a predictable monthly price than manage a stack of plugins.
  • You sell fashion, sarees or jewellery, where BizzPocket themes are designed for how those products are browsed.

Moving from WooCommerce to BizzPocket

  1. Export your products from WooCommerce as a CSV (WooCommerce includes a product exporter).
  2. Import the spreadsheet into BizzPocket and check variants and images.
  3. Connect your Razorpay or Cashfree account and set your COD limits.
  4. Connect Shiprocket or Delhivery.
  5. Test on your bizzpocket.com subdomain, then point your domain on Growth or Scale.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is WooCommerce free in India?

The WooCommerce plugin is free, and so is the Razorpay plugin. You still pay for hosting (for example Hostinger's WordPress Premium at ₹149 a month on a 48-month prepay, renewing at ₹449), a domain, any premium plugins and your gateway's fee on each payment.

Is WooCommerce cheaper than BizzPocket?

In cash, often yes, especially at low and mid volumes on introductory hosting prices. Once you count premium plugins, renewal prices and the time or developer cost of updates and security, BizzPocket is usually the cheaper way to run a store without technical help.

Does WooCommerce support UPI and COD?

Yes. UPI comes through a gateway plugin such as Razorpay's, and cash on delivery is a built-in payment option. Limits by pincode or order value and GST invoices usually need extra plugins.

Can I move from WooCommerce to BizzPocket?

Yes. Export products as a CSV from WooCommerce, import them into BizzPocket, connect your gateway and couriers, and point your domain when you are ready.
