Can You Really Start an Online Store for Free in India?
Yes — and not a "free trial" type of free. BizzPocket gives you a fully functional online store, payment collection, order management, and WhatsApp catalogue sharing at zero cost. You only pay the standard payment gateway fee (typically 2% via Razorpay) when you make a sale. No sale, no cost.
What You Need Before Starting
- A mobile number for OTP verification
- A bank account to receive payments (any Indian bank works)
- Product photos — smartphone photos in good light are perfectly fine to start
- GST number — optional below ₹20 lakh annual turnover, required above it
Step 1: Create Your Account (5 Minutes)
Go to bizzpocket.com and click "Start for Free". Enter your phone number, verify with OTP, and set a password. Provide your store name (becomes your initial URL, e.g., yourstore.bizzpocket.com) and product category. Dashboard is live immediately — no credit card required.
Step 2: Set Up Your Brand (20 Minutes)
Go to Settings → Store Appearance:
- Logo: Upload a PNG with transparent background. If you do not have one, Canva's free logo maker takes 10 minutes.
- Primary Colour: Pick your brand colour — BizzPocket applies it to all buttons and accents automatically.
- Favicon: A 32×32 pixel version of your logo for browser tabs.
Step 3: Add Your Products (30 Minutes for First 10)
Go to Products → Add New Product:
Product Title — Be Specific
Weak: "Blue Kurta". Strong: "Blue Cotton A-Line Kurta for Women — Festive Collection, Sizes S to 3XL". The specific title ranks better on Google and converts better at checkout.
Product Description — Aim for 200+ Words
Cover material, measurements, occasions, care instructions, and what the customer receives. Rich descriptions improve SEO ranking and customer trust simultaneously.
Photos — At Least 3 Per Product
A full-product shot, a detail close-up, and a lifestyle or in-use shot. Recommended size: 1000×1000 pixels. BizzPocket automatically compresses images.
SEO Section — Fill This In
Scroll to the bottom of each product page and complete the SEO title (under 60 characters) and SEO description (under 160 characters). This is exactly what appears in Google search results. Takes 5 minutes per product and drives organic traffic for years.
Step 4: Connect Razorpay (10 Minutes)
- Create a free Razorpay account at razorpay.com
- Complete KYC with PAN and bank account details (1–2 business days to activate)
- In BizzPocket: Settings → Payments → Razorpay
- Paste your Key ID and Key Secret
- Save — your store now accepts UPI, cards, wallets, net banking, and EMI
Step 5: Set Up Your Custom Domain (15 Minutes)
Buy a domain from GoDaddy India or BigRock — a .in domain costs ₹599–₹999/year. Then in BizzPocket: Settings → Domains → Add Domain. BizzPocket shows you the DNS records to add at your registrar. Add the CNAME record, and within 24 hours your store is live on yourstore.in with automatic SSL (HTTPS).
Step 6: Configure Shipping (20 Minutes)
Go to Settings → Shipping → Shipping Zones. Set a flat rate (e.g., ₹60 for orders under ₹500, free above ₹1,000) or weight-based rates. Critical: unexpected shipping costs at checkout are the number one cause of cart abandonment in India. Factor shipping into your product pricing wherever possible and offer free shipping for larger orders to boost average order value.
Step 7: Test and Launch
Before going public, complete a real test purchase: add a product to cart, go through checkout, pay (Razorpay has a test mode). Verify you receive the order confirmation email. Check the order appears in your dashboard. Then share your store link on WhatsApp, Instagram bio, and Facebook page.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Skipping SEO fields: Takes 5 minutes per product. Pays dividends for years. Never skip this.
- Bad product photos: Blurry or poorly lit photos dramatically hurt conversion. Good light from a window + a plain background is enough.
- Not testing checkout: Always complete a real test purchase before announcing publicly.
- Ignoring shipping cost UX: Show estimated shipping cost early in checkout, not as a surprise at the final payment step.
